In the extremely beautiful scenery of the nature under the Tatras, in villages: Vysoké Tatry, Kezmarok, Svit and Veľká Lomnica a one of  a king festival in Slovakia takes place - The International Festival of Dolls in Folk Costumes. Since 1997the festival has been held from the 1st to the 3rd of June.

The symbol of the festival are dolls in original folk costumes –the same of those worn by the members of the folk groups. The purpose of the event is to present the children folklore groups from Slovakia and abroad to the wide public, to support the social and cultural development of children and to preserve tradition. At the same time, the organizers try to promote tolerance, mutual respect, culture and customs of individual nations through traditional workshops in the primary schools of the region. This way, in the course of 15 previous editions, a large collection of dolls from different parts of the world was made, which symbolizes the friendships between children – the participants of the festival.

During the festival also annual contests take place as well as games and trips on the educating routes in High Tatras. The climax of the event is a gala program, when the participating groups exchange dolls in folk costumes.
